033 - Ved Vyas and his mama

One day Ved Vyas's maternal uncle ( mama )  came to him and said, "You know lord brahma very well as you have written the Brahma Puran so pray do me a favour, ask him to grant me the vardaan of being immortal."

Ved Vyas took his mama and went to visit Brahma. After they had paid their respect to each other and appreciated each other's greatness, Vyas told Brahma the reason for his arrival. Hearing this Brahma said that it is not possible for him to fulfill the wish but he can accompany them to lord Vishnu who may be able to help.

Hearing about the visit Goddess Saraswati expressed her desire to come along as she wanted to visit her sister Lakshmi and just catch up on what's happening and even admire Lakshmi's new jewels.

So the four of them set out to visit Lord Vishnu.

When they reached there the usual custom of respecting and acknowledging each other's greatness was completed and the reason for the visit was disclosed. Hearing this Vishnu said that the right person to contact was Lord Shiva. As they were planning the course of action both Saraswati and Lakshmi expressed their desire to be a part of it as they had not met Parvati for a long time and were eager to meet her.

So six of them set out to visit Lord Shiva.

On reaching Kailash the same formalities were exchanged and the purpose of the visit duly disclosed. Hearing this Shiva said that it was quite easy as his deputy Yama looked after the affair. So Yama was invited , he said that as he was not involved in the nitty-gritty of such matters he would invite his deputy Chitragupta to handle this. Chitragupta happened to be in Kashi and was called for.

When asked about the date of Vyas's mama's death he wanted to go over the files in hid laptop. As he was checking out the details he let out a cry and fainted. Immediately after this Ved Vyas's mama passed away. Yama was surprised and looked into the file opened by Chitragupta that had caused the calamity.

This is what appeared on the screen, "on the day when Brahma and Saraswati, Vishnu and Lakshmi , Shiva and Parvati , Yama and Chitragupta, Ved Vyas and his mama meet together - that day will be the last day for the mama!"
