Swami Ram Tirath was wandering ahead of the river Ganga towards Rishikesh. He met yogi, whom he asked, "Since how long have you been a sanyasi?"
The later replied, "For the last some forty years."
"What have you achieved in these years?" asked Swami Ram Tirath.
"You see the flowing Ganges. I can cross it as you cross a dry piece of land." said the yogi proudly. "And then can you come back also like that?" asked the swami again.
The yogi replied in the affirmative.
The swami said, "Anything other than it?"
"Is it a small thing in itself?" asked the yogi.
Swami Ram Tirath smiled and said, "This is a small thing indeed. You have lost forty years in it. A boat goes in the river at two annas per trip. You have achieved in forty years what a person could get by spending four annas. You went to the ocean of nectar but came out with a stone instead of a diamond."
All these siddhis are obstacles in the way of God realization. This is a worldly success, not a spiritual achievement.
