A king grew fat and ill because he over ate. Angry with his doctors for asking him to eat less, he announced a reward for anyone who could find him a proper cure.
There was one condition. Those who failed would have their heads cut off.
An astrologer predicted that the king had only a month left to live. The king was furious and upset. The man asked to be imprisoned for a month so that his prediction could be tested.
So he was promptly thrown into prison. The king was so terrified, he hardly ate and lost a lot of weight over the next month.
Then he summoned the astrologer. "Tell me why I shouldn't behead you!"
Replied the man, "Look in the mirror, and see yourself cured!"
The king was astonished to find himself slim and healthy.
Then the 'astrologer' told him that he was really a doctor. By frightening the king to death, he had made him eat less, and that had cured him.
The delighted king gave him his reward, promising never to over eat again.
