Vemana - without personal experience reading scripture is fruitless

స్వానుభూతి లేక, శాస్త్ర - వాసనల చే,
సంశయంబు చెడదు సాధకునకు;
చిత్ర- దీపముననుఁ జీశటి చెడన'ట్లు  
విశ్వధాభిరామ, వినుర వేమ

Without personal experience, the mere savour of the scripture

 will not remove the fears of the aspirant;

as darkness is never dispelled by a mere painted flame
